Berita 24 English - As they commemorate the ninth anniversary of their debut this month, South Korean boy band BTS will release their new album "Proof" on Friday, marking their much awaited return to the music arena.

At 1 p.m., the album will be released (0400 GMT). In less than two days, "Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)" has received more than 17.8 million views on YouTube.

The seven-member trio won artist of the year at the American Music Awards for the first time ever by an Asian group. They met with Vice President Joe Biden at the White House last week to discuss hate crimes against Asians.

Since their debut on June 13, 2013, the group has been at the forefront of a global K-pop phenomenon with songs and social activities targeted at uplifting young people.

However, their fan base extends to older groups, tying their buying power to an internet-savvy, social media-savvy age.

In November of 2017, BTS performed in Los Angeles for the first time since the coronavirus outbreak began. In March, BTS performed three shows in Seoul, their home nation.
