Berita 24 English - As the domestic internet giant pivots to the worldwide gaming market, China's Tencent Holdings announced on Wednesday that its flagship mobile game "Honor of Kings" will be released abroad before the end of the year.

According to data firm Sensor Tower, the Shenzhen-based company's multiplayer action game, which is largely played in China, has consistently been its most profitable, raking in $10 billion in sales between its 2015 introduction and September last year.

Because the domestic industry has become intensely competitive and scarred by a strong regulatory crackdown, Tencent's overseas launch of the top-grossing game underlines the company's commitment on expanding worldwide.

Since last June, China's gaming authority has not issued Tencent any new game licenses. Tencent, the world's largest gaming company, was not included in the latest batch of 60 game licenses given on Tuesday.

Tencent stated in May that domestic sales fell 1% in the first quarter, while international revenue increased 4%.

According to Sensor Tower, "Honor of Kings," which has more than 95 percent of its users in China, was the world's top-grossing game in April, with more than $274 million in player expenditure, up 6.2 percent from a year ago.

The business previously released "Arena of Valor," a worldwide adaptation of "Honor of Kings," which was a flop, but it will now sell the same game that was popular in China.

Tencent's new Singapore-based brand Level Infinite will distribute the foreign edition, which was founded last year to assist Tencent release games outside of China.
