Berita 24 English - On Friday, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that it had received 650 reports of possible instances of acute hepatitis in youngsters, but that the causes were unknown and were being investigated.

According to the WHO study, 650 probable cases have been submitted to WHO from 33 countries as of May 26, with 99 more cases awaiting categorization.

Health officials from all across the world are looking into a mystery rise in severe episodes of hepatitis (liver inflammation) in young infants, which has resulted in at least nine deaths.

The main explanation for recent episodes of severe hepatitis of unknown origin in children, according to US health officials, is infection with adenovirus, a common childhood virus.

Immunocompromised youngsters have virtually always been connected to hepatitis caused by this kind of adenovirus.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the
United States
said it was looking into whether COVID-19 infections, as well as other diseases, drugs, and risk factors, were to blame.
