Berita 24 English -
During the 14-week consultation, the United Kingdom (UK) government will solicit views of the general public and businesses, as well as representatives from both industries, before Trade Minister Liz Truss prepares to begin negotiations later this year.

India, after Brexit, is viewed as a major trading partner for Britain. After more COVID-19 cases in India, Prime Minister Boris Johnson had to abandon a planned visit to Delhi.

Leaders critics say that Johnson risked the public health of the British by delaying India's travel to the "red list," which almost completely bans travel to England from countries with coronavirus outbreaks.

The government is vehemently denying the charge. A deadly variant of the coronavirus discovered in India is anticipated to emerge as the predominant strain in the UK in the long term.

With a population of 1.4 billion people, India is a democracy, a fifth-largest economy, and a massive market for British goods, among them whisky, cars, and services.

We're seeking an agreement that helps us push forward into new industries and jobs of the future while also promoting innovation and sustainability.

As of late last year, Britain has been actively pursuing new trade agreements with countries around the Indo-Pacific region, with a particular focus on rapidly growing economies like India and China.
