Berita 24 English
- Air India, India's national airline, said on Friday that a cyber attack on its data processor in February affected approximately 4.5 million passengers worldwide.

Air India, a member of the global airline alliance Star Alliance, stated that the breach affected personal data, including name, contact information, passport, ticket, and credit card information, that was registered between Aug. 26, 2011, and Feb. 20 2021. (bit.ly/3hL9z5A)

Earlier in March, the airline announced that its data processor, SITA PSS (Passenger Service System), had notified it of a cyber attack in the final week of February.

SITA supports the Star Alliance airline alliance, which includes Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa, and United. (bit.ly/3bJyPVX)

British Airways was fined £20 million last year for failing to protect data, exposing the personal information of over 400,000 of its customers to a 2018 cyber attack. Other recent high-profile cyber incidents include another London-listed airline, EasyJet, which disclosed last year that hackers gained access to the email and travel details of approximately 9 million customers.
